J. Eli Young Bio

Legal Experience 

J. Eli Young graduated from Capital Law School in 2017. He has practiced law in Central and Southeastern Ohio ever since. During his first 4 years as an attorney, he worked as an associate for a well-known local criminal defense firm. In 2021 he took a job working as a prosecutor in Fairfield County, Ohio. In 2026, he left the prosecutor's office and started his own criminal defense practice.

During his time working in the criminal justice system, he has conducted dozens of jury trials, hundreds of suppression hearings, and hundreds of bench trials. He has litigated in multiple counties and given oral arguments in the Appellate Courts of Ohio. 

Personal Experience

Prior to becoming an attorney, Eli worked as a Water Protection Specialist with the City of Columbus. He attended Capital Law school in the evenings and days off. 

He also served in the military for 11 years with the US Navy Reserves. He was deployed twice during that time. In 2008 he served in Kuwait and Iraq, and in 2016 he served in Afghanistan. Upon his return home from Afghanistan, he completed his last year of law school and passed the Ohio Bar on his first attempt.
